First Snow and Ripening Tomatoes

We got our first snow of the season yesterday.  The children were so excited! 🙂  They had fun making snow balls and  shoveling the yard since there wasn’t enough snow on the driveway at first.  LOL

The funny thing is, we hadn’t even had a hard frost yet.   There were tomato plants still flowering in the green house!

We didn’t want our plants to freeze though so we brought them in like we do every year.  First, we pulled the plants out of the ground and then hung them upside down from the basement ceiling in bundles.  They will continue to ripen over the next weeks or months.  Last year we had fresh tomatoes right into January!
